Pregnancy Shopping Checklist

Congratulations on the great news! You're having a baby and are going to need a pregnancy checklist to find the latest and greatest information and pregnancy products. Your friends at Parent's Choice Infant Formula compiled this pregnancy shopping checklist for your first trimester and beyond.

First Trimester Pregnancy Checklist

  1. Pregnancy Books: Hit up your local book store or library for pregnancy and birth books. A popular book for new expecting moms is What to Expect When Expecting.
  2. A Belly Band: Other people may not be able to tell you're expecting just yet, but your pants may be telling another story. A belly band enables you to wear your existing pants with the button and/or zipper undone.
  3. Body Pillow: It may not sound like a must-have pregnancy product, but most women will tell you it was one of their most favorite purchases.
  4. Tooth Care: Once you become pregnant, tooth care is more important than ever before because your gums become more sensitive and prone to gingivitis.
  5. Good Body Lotion: As your belly grows and stretches, it's important to slather on the lotion to keep it moisturized. This may help reduce the amount of stretch marks.

Second Trimester Checklist

  1. Maternity Wear: You'll start to show in your second trimester (if you aren't already). Now is the time to buy maternity clothes. The good news is you won't have to compromise your style because there are lots of great options to choose from that flatter your growing belly!
  2. Sleep Aids: If you didn't buy that body pillow yet, you may want to rethink it and buy one! Other things that may help you sleep are noise machines, fans, and earplugs.
  3. Glider for the Nursery: This will come in handy once your baby arrives, but it is also nice to sit in a glider while you're expecting. Opt for one with a separate stool allowing you to prop up your swollen feet.
  4. Newborn Clothes: Start shopping around for baby clothes and other newborn essentials and look for sales. You may also want to start thinking of how you would like to decorate the nursery!

Third Trimester Checklist

  1. Belly Support Band. A support band may not be the most glamorous thing to buy while pregnant but believe us you'll thank us later. As your baby starts to drop into position for birth, you'll experience more pelvic discomfort and lower back pain. A belly support band will certainly help relieve this discomfort.
  2. Nursing Bras: If you're planning to breastfeed you'll need to pick up a few nursing bras and pack them in your bag for the hospital. A nursing bra will make feeding your newborn easier. You can also find nursing clothing that enables you to breastfeed easily without having to lift up your shirt.
  3. Baby Books: It's time to hit up your bookstore or library again to read up on newborn care. It never hurts to learn more about infant nutrition and become familiar with infant developmental milestones.
  4. Finish the Nursery: Finish up all your unfinished nursery items and make sure you have all essential items to welcome your baby home.
